In August of 2019, Canaan Valley BBQ officially opened its doors. In what was formerly Deerfield Restaurant, Matt Haverty completed an extensive remodel of the entire building. Not only did he join the two dining areas to create a welcoming open floor plan, but he also added an open kitchen and added a 30’+ bar area.
Matt Haverty is a long time local businessman in Canaan Valley with a passion for smoked barbeque. Him and his team are serving AMAZING food seven days a week right here in Canaan!
The full menu can be found below but the highlights include pulled pork on a potato bun, half chicken with cornbread, brisket and baby back ribs too! Their BBQ is all made fresh daily in house. Last but not least, the bar has a full menu as well serving beer, wine and liquor.
All Golden Anchor Cabins are less than 10 miles from CV BBQ. Our Meadow cabin is the closest at less than 1/2 mile away. If you want to be super close to great bbq, look no further than Meadow cabin!

- Fantastic and consistent! This is easily the best barbeque in the area!! The remodel of the old Deerfield restaurant is nothing short of remarkable. You won’t recognize it. Delicious food, great atmosphere, awesome staff and management!
- Canaan Valley BBQ is killing it! Particularly they have outstanding ribs, pulled pork and bbq chicken! super-fast service too.
- Great place in the Valley and the new bar is a welcome addition. I’m thinking weekends in the winter will find this spot the place to be for night life. BBQ is top notch and the renovation of the building was very well done.
- I had the beef brisket with friends and we all enjoyed our dinner on a Sunday night. The format is casual dining. Order at the counter, sit down and they bring the food to you. There is also a full bar. Most importantly for the CV vacation rental market — they offer take out.
