No matter what season, there are tons of activities nearby. There are miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Visit our friends at NRocks for zip lining and rock climbing. In the winter months we are near Canaan Valley Resort, Timberline Mountain, Whitegrass Resort so downhill skiing, cross country skiing, tubing, skating and sledding are all nearby. Getting to our cabin rentals from Baltimore MD
Golden Anchor Cabins is a two hundred miles away from Baltimore and is around a three and a half hours to drive. There are several ways to get from Baltimore to our cabin rentals. The fastest way is to follow I-70 west to I-68 west then in Cumberland, Maryland turn south onto Rt 219 into West Virginia. Here is a link for driving directions if you want a simple, direct route from Baltimore to Golden Anchor Cabins.
But if you’re looking for a scenic drive through the woods, travel through West Virginia’s panhandle and scenic Harper’s Ferry before picking up I-81 briefly and diving back into the Monongahela National Forest near Wardensville where you pick up Rt 48 which has recently been completed all the way to Blackwater Falls. Rt 48 between Wardensville and Davis a beautiful stretch of road with lots of charming little towns to visit along the way. This detour is definitely worth the extra mileage if you plan to make a few stops.
