It’s hard to believe but 2019 is nearly over already. Here at Golden Anchor Cabins we are finishing up the last of this year’s cabin upgrade projects, gearing up for Christmas, and preparing for the 2019/2020 winter ski season!

Christmas Decorations

We began decorating mid-November and as of the publish date of this letter, we’re completely decorated! With the sights of the décor and twinkle lights, the sounds of instrumental Christmas music and the smell of holiday candles, this is our favorite time of year in the cabins! Jamie always aims to make each cabin look like something out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. I think that you will agree!
This year we have even found enough room in each of our game room honeymoon cabins and Pondview to add a beautiful flocked and decorated tree! Our cabins will make for the perfect relaxing getaway just before or after those hectic family Christmas festivities.

We will leave all our decorations up through the first week of January. We will also take requests from anyone staying in January that would like for us to leave the decorations up. But they will all be down by the end of January. If you have your reservation for January and you want to make sure the decorations are still up feel free to send me a quick email so I can make a note for you.

Canaan Valley Resort ski season starts December 13th
Our neighbors at Canaan Valley Resort have taken advantage of the recent cold temperatures and cranked up their new snow blowers to get a head start on this year’s ski season. If all goes well, they will be opening on December 13th!
For those of you that don’t already know about CVR’s downhill skiing, they have 47 trails ranging from beginner to advanced. The mountain receives around 180 inches of snowfall per season. This year they have added a ton of snow making capacity on the mountain so we are expecting to see some of the best ski conditions we’ve seen in a long time!
If you haven’t made plans for a winter getaway already, now is time to look at our calendar and book your favorite cabin before we are booked up for the season.
Meadow’s Deck Upgrade
Here are some progress and completion photos of our changes to Meadow’s back deck. The new hot tub is right at home back there and our partial privacy fence is all that cabin needed to add a little seclusion.
We’ve got one more idea for Meadow’s deck. This spring we plan to add a table for two on the back side as well so everyone can enjoy dinner or drinks overlooking the Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge on a cool summer evening.
