Whether taking Rt 32 through the quaint towns of Davis, Thomas & Parsons or following Rt 72 and the meandering Cheat River itself, both directions are around 30 miles to BOA’s outfitter campus. Each of our luxury log cabins feature clean hot tubs, full kitchens and gas log fireplace by a comfy couch. You’ll find your relaxing stay at Golden Anchor Cabins to be the perfect complement to a white water rafting adventure.
Family Rafting – Cheat Narrows Rafting
Enjoy the beauty and sheer excitement of this 5 mile stretch of the Cheat River. BOA’s highly trained and professional staff will guide you through the Cheat Narrows for an exciting experience that you will not soon forget. There is excitement for everyone from the novice to the experienced whitewater rafter on the Cheat River in St. George, WV. The Narrow’s Class II and III rapids will be fun and exciting, but not intimidate even the first-time rafters. All tours include transportation to and from the river, all the equipment necessary for the day, and on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday the rafting tour includes a full lunch. All other days include a light snack.

What kind of river is the Cheat River?
The Cheat River is West Virginia family white water at its best! The Cheat River is fed by several popular fishing rivers including Shaver’s Fork, Dry Fork and Red Creek plus all of the water that Blackwater Falls can throw at it. This makes for great rapids and white water rafting in the Cheat Narrows. Closer to Parsons, the river is wide and flat making for a tube rider’s lazy paradise. The Cheat is a rain-dependant river, rather than one fed by a dam. Consequently, all rides are weather-dependent. BOA cancellations due to low water levels will constitute a 100% refund.
What does BOA provide?
Blackwater Outdoor Adventures of West Virginia provides transportation to and from the river, all rafting equipment (helmet, life jacket, paddle & boat), and professional guides to get you down the river. On Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday the white water rafting tour includes a full lunch. All other days include a light snack.
How much time do we spend on the water?
The total trip is 4-5 hours from the time you leave base camp until you return. We spend 3-4 of them on the water. Additionally, allow for 40 minutes of travel time between your cabin and BOA’s campus.
What else might we need?
You should bring any medication you need throughout the day, plus sunscreen, sunglasses and a dry layer to put on after the trip.
