Over the river and through the woods
Golden Anchor Cabins is less than a two hour drive from Morgantown, WV. There are several ways to get from Morgantown to our cabin rentals. You can take I-68 to 219 South in Friendsville then own to Thomas and then Rt 32 on to Canaan Valley if you want a simple, direct route.
But if you’re looking for a scenic drive through the woods, follow Route 7 into Kingwood. From there, you pick up Rt 72 South and travel along a much more modest Cheat River than you’re used to seeing in Morgantown.
Rafting with Blackwater Outdoor Adventures
This stretch of the Mon is popular for white water rafting excursions. Here’s an article about our friends at Blackwater Outdoor Adventures. They outfit Tucker County with everything from stand-up paddle boards and kayaks to guided rafting tours. Continue on Rt 72 South through Parsons and Hendricks. It will get even more twisty as you near the end of the road. Eventually 72 will come to an end and intersect with Rt 32. Take a left and we’re not more than a quarter of a mile on the left.
